Careers Relationship Manager, Philanthropy
Full-time, Hybrid role (3 days per week in the CBD office)
As the Relationship Manager, Philanthropy (State Manager NSW/ACT), you will join a national team with a focus on raising much needed funds for Opportunity International Australia, whose vision is a world in which all people have the opportunity to achieve a life free from poverty, with dignity and purpose.

The Role
Due to an internal promotion, the team is growing. In this position you will lead the NSW/ACT relationship fundraising portfolio and be responsible for acquiring financial support from individuals (70%), commercial organisations (10%), trusts and foundations (20%).
You will report to and work closely with a passionate and driven Head of Fundraising. As part of a collaborative national team of five, you will manage your region's portfolio of donors with a focus on retention, upgrade and new relationships , making strategic asks that result in income generation.
Responsibilities
- Qualify a portfolio of NSW/ACT donors and supporters who have previously given generously to the organisation.
- Develop a personalised and tailored supporter journey for your portfolio.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with a focus on getting to know your donors’ passions and interests and offering opportunities for investment that align with these.
- Maintain the retention and upgrade goals of your portfolio.
- Work collaboratively with the program team to understand their work in order to develop compelling proposals and impact reports.
- Regularly report on your personal activity and portfolio pipeline and results.
- In addition to your business as usual relationship management, have a desire to represent Opportunity at forums, events, expos and conferences.
Your skills and attributes
- Opportunity is motivated by the parable of the Good Samaritan, therefore an alignment with the values of the Christian ethos will be key to your success in this role.
- An experienced fundraising relationship manager from the not for profit sector, or extensive experience driving long-term, high-value individual relationships in the commercial sector.
- Confident, proactive , and personable.
- Strong, professional communicator coupled with a love of best-practice process.
- Strong administration skills and the ability to execute on a plan, comfortable working within a small, hands-on team.
- Flexibility for occasional regional travel to connect with supporters.
- A willingness to travel overseas with supporters to witness the impact their gifts have on families building lives free from poverty.
