Careers Training and Curriculum Developer

12-month full-time contract, ending 30 June 2026.

Opportunity International Australia is seeking a Training and Curriculum Developer, specialising in health, to support our mission to help break the cycle of poverty. Working within Opportunity’s Health program and reporting to the Technical Lead, Health, the Training and Curriculum Developer is a key contributor to the effectiveness of our work.

Based in either India or Bangladesh, the role will suit a passionate, collaborative and self-starting professional with strong interpersonal skills, experience in the not-for-profit sector and alignment to our mission.

Opportunity has a growing, innovative, and dynamic portfolio of Health projects establishing telemedicine clinics and hybrid models to support healthcare access, innovative social business and fintech/health tech partnerships, resilience against gender-based violence and strengthening community health education.

The Role

The Training and Curriculum Developer will be part of a Programs team working to leverage the core assets and competencies of microfinance institutions (MFIs) – their capacity for social mobilisation, established networks in high-need communities, and high levels of trust – to offer scalable and sustainable health programs.

A passion for international development to serve the world’s most disadvantaged, and an alignment with Opportunity’s mission, vision, values and purpose, is critical.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Curriculum Development
    • Design and develop a master training module aligned with project objectives
    • Ensure modules are evidence-based, user-friendly, and adaptable
    • Consult local experts for contextual and comprehensive content.
  • Partner Customisation Support
    • Collaborate with partners to localize training content across health focus areas
    • Provide technical guidance to ensure relevance in diverse contexts
    • Support partners during the customization process.
  • Training Strategy and Rollout
    • Develop tiered training schedules for all levels of implementers
    • Design a cascade training model for effective knowledge transfer
    • Conduct follow-up and refresher trainings to sustain capacity.
  • Training Delivery
    • Conduct high-quality online and offline training sessions for master trainers
    • Supervise Training of Trainers (ToT) to ensure delivery quality
    • Use participatory methods and adult learning principles.
  • IEC Materials Review and Repository Development
    • Review and assess existing IEC/BCC materials
    • Curate and standardize materials for partner use
    • Develop a centralized, user-friendly IEC/BCC repository.

About You

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Communication, Instructional Design with a focus on health, or a closely related health sciences field.
  • Relevant experience in curriculum development, adult learning, and training delivery, preferably in public health or community development settings
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing, curating, and managing IEC/BCC materials
  • Experience working with NGOs and community-based organizations
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and project coordination skills
  • Proficiency in developing training content and resources using digital tools
  • Excellent communication skills in English (including synthesis and presentation), and fluency in one or more major languages in South Asia or South-East Asia (Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Bahasa)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build strong and effective relationships in a multicultural and often remote work environment.

Advantages:

  • Knowledge of financial inclusion, public health or development sector programs, alongside global development donors, and/or NGOs
  • In-country programs implementation experience in India, Bangladesh, Nepal or other low and middle-income markets.
