Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic families living in poverty in India have shown incredible determination, courage, hope and resilience. As the flow-on effects of the pandemic continued to disrupt livelihoods for low-income families in India, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Opportunity International Australia’s microfinance solutions were a constant in a time of uncertainty for the families we serve.

Through its four microfinance partners in Indonesia, Opportunity is currently reaching 1,368,643 families with small loans and financial services.
Flow-on effects of the COVID-19 crisis significantly impacted the livelihoods of low-income women and families in Indonesia, with the World Bank reporting the pandemic has turned back three years of progress in poverty reduction. In the second half of 2021, despite the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, Opportunity International Australia continued to support vulnerable families – expanding our reach in Indonesia in 2021 by 12 per cent.
