Your giving is helping families on their journey out of poverty by making it easier and more affordable for them to access loans and other financial services that strengthen their resilience and help them to thrive. With support from Opportunity's global digital inclusion team, many of our microfinance partners are in varying stages of adopting digital banking strategies or working on solutions to leverage digital communities to offer low-cost financial products to even more families.
In the Philippines, which has a mobile workforce and challenging terrain, we have been working to reduce the risks and costs families face when sending and receiving money. In 2016, thanks to your support, coupled with funding from the Australian Government, Opportunity’s partner in the Philippines OK Remit successfully launched its unified payments platform. OK Remit now has a mobile-based app and growing network of physical outlets for handling cash.
This project is supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).

DIVERSIFYING OUR PARTNERSHIPS
In the second half of 2018 OK Remit focused on building new partnerships to broaden the platform's reach. This has included discussions with major insurance companies, banks and e-commerce providers. Negotiations are at various stages with some pilots underway, or about to start. These new partnerships will help grow the distribution footprint, as well as diversify the products on offer.
MEETING MORE FAMILY NEEDS
OK Remit has also expanded the product suite available to families through microfinance partners. Offerings now include microinsurance, international remittances, bill payments, pre-paid cards as well as loan disbursements.
Stories of digital inclusion
New Making life easier for "runners"
Pinkee is her family's "runner" – this means she's the one running around from branch to centre to office, doing the family's errands. She saw the opportunity to make life easier for all the "runners" in her community, by creating a local remittance outlet.
Meet Jeffry
Jeffry is helping transform his community through his business - the Happy Link Remittance Center.
Meet Linda
Over the years Linda’s thriving business has grown steadily. She’s always looking for new products or extra services her customers need.
By becoming a community agent Linda connects her community to the opportunities of managing their money.
Branches where they're needed
Accessing a bank is a major challenge for many families in the Philippines. OK Remit's growing network of agents across the country is overcoming this challenge by bringing affordable and reliable financial services to families.
Beyond remittances
OK Remit is proving a versatile platform for bringing digital inclusion to Filipino families. Following a successful pilot, this January Opportunity's program partner ASKI began using OK Remit for disbursing all loans.
