Rosa WangGlobal Director, Digital Financial Services

Rosa Wang serves as the Global Director of Digital Financial Services for Opportunity International, defining technical standards, developing business strategy, and negotiating collaborations across mobile money, mobile/cell-phone banking, and agent banking.

Rosa’s key contributions include establishing a Center of Excellence for driving effective use of mobile money throughout the Opportunity Network, working with individual countries and industry players to identify best models and relevant partners, leading key projects in specific countries, and advising and supporting local initiatives.

Rosa began her career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and went on to hold several positions in research and securities, culminating in a role as Deputy ChiefInvestment Officer at Alianz-Desdner Asia in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Opportunity International in 2012, Rosa was a director at Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, a Silicon Valley-based organization, where she founded, designed, and integrated a global program for social investment entrepreneurs. In this role, she oversaw a cluster of Ashoka fellows dedicated to mobile phone strategies and initiated collaborative investor relationships with private banks, US foundations, and technology vendors. She sees mobile technology as the key which will unlock the full potential of microfinance.

Rosa holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Arts from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Rosa is chair of the DFS Peer Group of the CEO-MFW Group, which spans ten large microfinance networks and serves 69 million clients.

She is based in Oxford, England.
