Food For Thought 2015 Wraps Up
What an incredible few months it’s been! Thanks so much to everyone who took part in Food for Thought this year – we saw so many great ways people enjoyed good food and spread the word about Opportunity.
Thanks to the support of people like you, we exceeded our fundraising target of $100k, raising a total of...
$120,562!
This is enough to help give 1,722 mothers like Anupa small loans to start their own small businesses.
Not that long ago, Anupa was afraid. Not for herself, but for her son Sanjay. He’s only five. At his age, Anupa had to beg door-to-door for food. She feared that without a hand up out of poverty, Sanjay would also have to beg to survive.
Anupa is hoping to use a small loan to start her own tailoring business, giving her the regular income she needs to provide Sanjay with safe shelter, a well to access clean water and a proper education so that he can become a policeman. See an interview with Anupa here.
Although Food for Thought has come to an end, there’s another way you can help give families like Anupa’s the means to turn their lives around – it’s called HandUp.
HandUp is an ongoing gift of just $6 a month, which is able to help set up one small business per year.
Anupa's love for her son gives her the courage to work hard and give him a future that is nothing like her past.
Can you help this Christmas? Just $6 a month – 20 cents a day – is all it takes.
