WHAT'S IT LIKE WORKING AT OPPORTUNITY?
Opportunity cultivates a friendly, professional culture and promotes a workplace where people treat each other with dignity and respect. We encourage our team to bring their whole self to work, in order to live and work authentically. We continually aim to improve our culture and regularly seek feedback from the team.
All team members are provided with a thorough induction and onboarding process. Opportunity is committed to the growth and development of its people and ensuring they are trained to carry out their current jobs and equipped in time to perform future roles. In addition to initial induction, there are professional development opportunities and a culture of learning through self-development and continuous training.
Team members will be aligned to our mission and values and understand our motivation. Our motivation is in response to Jesus Christ’s call to love and serve the poor, serving all people regardless of their race, faith, ethnicity and gender.
As a child-safe organisation, Opportunity has a Child Protection Policy in place and requires staff to sign and comply with our Child Protection Code of Conduct and undergo a criminal record check. Opportunity is committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace that values people’s differences and provides opportunities/provisions for all staff to achieve their full potential. We encourage people with disabilities and people from other diverse backgrounds to apply.
Other Benefits
Opportunity values its people and offers flexible working arrangements to meet the needs of our workers and help them balance their work-life and personal commitments. We are a workplace that genuinely values well-being. Our Health and Wellbeing Committee aims to create a positive and supportive environment where healthy lifestyle choices are valued and encouraged. We have access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through The Greate Group, Mental Health First Aiders in the workplace, an annual staff retreat, and relaxation and meditation options during the workday.
As a Public Benevolent Institution, Opportunity is presently exempt from paying Fringe Benefits Tax on benefits paid to its employees (subject to certain caps and restrictions). This means eligible employees may be able to take advantage of salary packaging to lower their taxable income thereby increasing their net salary.
In 2021 and 2022, Opportunity was voted Voice Project’s “Best Workplace” award in recognition for achieving exceptional levels of employee engagement and satisfaction.
