Learn about volunteer positions and internships with Opportunity International Australia.
Volunteers are an integral part of Opportunity International Australia and we are so grateful for every person who donates their time, skills and expertise to help families out of poverty. While volunteering, you’ll gain valuable on-the-job training and an understanding of how organisations like Opportunity operate. Join us to have an impact while building skills and experience for your future.
Volunteer Internships are one form of volunteering which provide a more structured, time-bound program. Intakes occur three times a year (March, July and November) and require a commitment of 2-3 days per week (dependent on the role) for 18 weeks.
All volunteers are unpaid and, unless otherwise indicated, are based in our Sydney CBD office.

I applied to Opportunity International Australia’s internship program to have a different, relatively selfless experience at the end of my relatively self-interested undergraduate degree. I did not previously consider the non-profit sector as a personal and professional priority. How things have changed. Opportunity encouraged its interns to get to know each other as well as the staff, fostering in all of us a shared passion for helping families living in poverty. Opportunity’s staff took the time to include me in meetings and constantly expressed their appreciation for my work, while also explaining where I could have improved – truly the best way to learn.
