WATCH: COVID-19 Field Briefing

By Opportunity International Australia

As India grapples with a devastating second wave of COVID-19, and many countries around the world continue to fight the pandemic, Opportunity International Australia provided an COVID-19 field briefing from our Program Directors with the latest insights from our implementing partners.

On May 20, webinar attendees heard firsthand about the latest developments in India and Indonesia, including the devastating impacts of COVID-19, the recent natural disasters in Indonesia and how Opportunity is supporting relief efforts.

A recap of the highlights include:

  • Updates on the situation in India and Indonesia and stories from the families and communities we serve, including Amina's video
  • An overview of the impact of the second wave of COVID-19 in India on its people, economy and our partners
  • Opportunity’s innovative response, utilising our microfinance networks to support health education, provide basic care beds with oxygen, mass vaccination campaigns and help those with mild symptoms to isolate safely at home.
  • An update on the ways in which Indonesian microfinance clients have innovated to deal with the challenges of COVID-19, Cylcone Seroja and Mamju Earthquake.
